Before Spanish colonization, their lands extended into the lower slopes of the Sierra, places they still visit today to perform pagamentos and keep their connection to the earth alive.

Like their ancestors, the Kogui live in harmony with nature and preserve their ancestral knowledge of the world’s balance.

A visit to their community is a rare opportunity to witness their worldview and the spiritual bond that ties them to the Sierra.
